Having stayed in the North-East for 30 years, I would say that the food here is exceptional in its own way. North-East india has it's own food. Smoked meats, fiery chillies, chicken and pork dishes flavoured with bamboo shoots and chutneys and curries are the dishes of these states. The North-Eastern states also have an exceptional variety of sweet dishes. In Sikkim - seal roti is very famous. It is eaten with spicy potato and is mainly prepared during the festivals. Assam has jaggery and peetha. Nagaland is known for the black rice pudding known as nap naang. Pukhlein made of jaggery & rice is the staple dish of Meghalaya. The dishes are lip-smacking. The food culture is amazing.”

I can compare this with Pangong Lake near Leh, and Crater Lake in Oregon USA. No pollution because human can't stay here for long because of high altitude. When we visited, it was completely frozen. We could see ice and snow everywhere. Amazing experience! But keep in mind nothing is free. It is long journey (8 hours both way from Lachung) on very bad roads (Can we call roads).”

The Thalon Caves are one among various historic sites of Manipur, located at an altitude of 900 mt above sea level and is around 80 km from Imphal. The caves, which also provide the first concrete evidence of Hoabinhian culture in India, lie under Tamenglong district. Discovered in the year 1946 by the then Maharaja of Manipur, Budhachandra, the cave is located amidst darkness and makes an interesting visit.
